The IWAC Conference Directors group voted to affiliate with the newly formed Association for Writing Across the Curriculum (AWAC). AWAC, which is seeking official status as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, will serve as the home for the conference, which has existed as an informal organization for more than 25 years.
IWAC will be governed by the IWAC Committee, which will be made up of conference directors from the previous five IWAC conferences as well as the director of the upcoming conference. The committee will be chaired by the director of the immediate past conference, who will serve as a member of the AWAC Executive Board.
"We look forward to having, for the first time, an official organizational home," said Margaret Marshall, who directed IWAC 2018 and will serve as the chair of the IWAC Committee. "The past directors have done a great job of keeping the conference moving forward, but we are pleased to be able to find a stable and long-term solution for housing proceeds from past conferences and using them to support upcoming conferences."
